Globaledge
Description
The
Global Edge Program, or OGE, is an international work placement program created
and funded by the Ontario government of Canada designed to give post-secondary
students an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and other roles in
small to mid-sized companies in a global economy.
The
program sends students to a variety of locations around the world, including
Hong Kong and Germany
Announced
in March 2008, the Global Edge program was announced as part of the Ontario
Budget with a target of 175 students over four years ending in March 2012.
Due
to the success of the program however, the program was extended for an
additional two years, ending in 2014.
Participants
of the Global Edge program must meet the following criteria, as well as
complete and submit milestone reports during their placement period. Students
may also be required to keep a short blog detailing their experiences and
thoughts during the course of their placement. Each participant has their plane
ticket and housing costs covered by the program. In addition to that, each
participant also receives a living stipend as their placement may or mot not
have a salary.
